In a busy studio, the photographer develops myriad methods for maximizing the quality and quantity of his output while cutting out time- and money-wasting inefficiencies. Silent posing requires only that the subject imitate the photographer's actions. This mirroring mime—a "do as I do and not as I say" technique—allows the session to run through a gamut of emotions and positions, without any overcomplicated words or (possibly) inappropriate physical contact.
