Musette Bag

All DLD2015 merchandise, give-aways, magazines and other accompanying publications come in a brown musette bag. The DLD logo is stitched to the front in orange. Musette bags were originally used by soldiers of all fighting armies during WWII and have since then become part of popular culture and fashion. A musette bag carried a soldier’s essential gear like food rations, rifle/pistol cleaning kits, undergarments, socks, toiletry items and a map. No indication of where the DLD bag is being made on or inside the bag. Only a label stating: DLD Media GmbH, Arabellastraße 23, 81925 München.

Deloitte Digital

Give-away candy, wrapped in a black and white plastic packaging.On the back, the wrapping bears the logo of Der grüne Punkt, labelling it as recyclable material and part of a closed-cycle economy. No indication on the wrapping where the candy has been produced and what actually is inside.

DLD15 Lanyard and Key Chain

The DLD lanyard, printed on hard plastic attached to a key chain, grants access to all DLD-events, bears the name and profession of each participant on the front and a location map of all three main DLD-venues on the back. The key chain is made of printed-on polyester, bearing the DLD-logo in orange and black.

Diary on the Digital Revolution

In the hardcover book Diary on the Digital Revolution - Notes From 1990-2015, which was published by Petrarca Verlag in 2014, German art historian and publisher Dr. Hubert Burda presents a selection of his thoughts, notes and presentations on the impact of media technology on our lives since the early 1990s. In this collection of images, a timeline and accompanying articles on the activities of the Burda publishing house, Dr. Burda, who is also the founder and chairman of the DLD conference, offers his very personal account of the technological innovations of the digital revolution. The book was printed at Kastner und Kallwey GmbH in Forstinning, Germany.

Pictet Report

The Pictet Report on art and entertainment, issue sixteen, winter 2014, is a magazine published by the independent asset and wealth management group Pictet. This issue features interviews and articles about designers, artists, film producers, gallerists, auctioneers, entrepreneurs and an orchestra conductor. There is a subscription available for 10 annual issues of Pictet Report for 1000€ (250€ for young entrepreneurs and start-ups). No indication in the magazine where the issues are printed.

Red Bull Energy Drink can

The 250 ml aluminum can bears the logo of Red Bull (two red bulls attacking each other) and the classic blue and silver design of the can. Red Bull is an energy drink containing water, sweetener, carbon dioxide, magnesium, caffeine, vitamins, flavours and colorants as well as taurine. Red Bull energy drink was introduced to the Austrian market in 1987 and is now sold worldwide. Red Bull is also popular in the Startup ecosystem, omnipresent at Hackathons and Conferences. Red Bull lets their drink be produced and filled at Rauch Fruchtsäfte in Nüziders (Austria) and Rauch Fruchtsäfte Widnau (Switzerland). The aluminum can is recyclable and refundable.

BMWi Solar Charger

The BMWi solar charger is a lithium-battery run device for charging other electronic devices like smartphones or mp3-Players. The BMWi itself is charged by indices of light or with a USB connection and transmits the stored energy via USB. It comes with adapters for iPhone 3, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 5C, Mini USB and Micro USB. The BMWi is made in China.

Startupland

The book Startupland describes the story of Mikkel Svane, founder and CEO of Zendesk, a software development company based in San Francisco providing cloud-based customer service platforms. The book, co-authored by writer Caryle Adler, tells the story of Zendesk from its founding in 2007 by three friends in Copenhagen, Denmark, to it’s current status as a public company with customers and about 500 employees worldwide. The book was published in 2015 by Jossey Bass, a part of Wiley Media and Publishing, and printed in the USA.

Compact Disc

The CD A gmahde Wies’n… (A mowed lawn…) by the group Tegernseer Tanzlmusi came out in 2014 on the label Bogner Records. The album, featuring traditional Bavarian folk music, was recorded and produced at Bogner Records studio in Rottach-Egern, Germany.

Deutsche Telekom: promotion postcard

This promotional postcard of telecommunications firm Deutsche Telekom bears on the front the slogan Life is for Sharing in raised white vinyl letters, printed on a magenta-colored background of open umbrellas. On the back of the postcard, the slogan appears again, alongside a short text identifying Deutsche Telekom as DLD’s main communications partner, providing smart connectivity at each conference.

DLD Notepad

The notepad is an A6-size booklet of blank pages, stapled together in a yellow cover which bears the DLD-logo in white. No indication is given of where it was made.

HVB Women’s Council

The brochure features the winners of a start-up entrepreneurs mentoring program for women, sponsored by HypoVereinsbank which is a member of UniCredit. The HVB Women’s Council is an open-call competition for business ideas in which the winners get special mentoring, participate in workshops and special events. It is a cooperation of HypoVereinsbank, DLD, BayStrtup and LMU Center for Digital Technology and Management.

Ballpoint pen and graphite pencil

The ballpoint pen model n’ice pen lime (#149508) in futuristic design and ergodynamic form comes with a chrome-plated barrel and a plastic end cap in lime. The graphite pencil GRIP 2001 HB (#117000) comes in an environmentally safe water-based coating in white with a grey soft-grip-zone and an ergonomic triangular shape to ensure tireless writing and drawing. Faber-Castell, a high profile pencil making company which dates back to 18th century German craftsmanship, has provided these writing and drawing tools from their current line of products. The family Faber-Castell has a castle near Nuremberg in Bavaria and is involved entrepreneurially and socially both locally and globally.

DLD 2014 Factbook

The DLD 2014 Factbook is a 49-page, A4-book which looks back at DLD 2014 and provides information about all DLD events worldwide in 2014. The white hardcover has raised gloss letters on the cover next to a circular logo in blue stripes and a red dot. All speakers, topics and panels of the DLD conference in Munich 2014 are listed inside the book as well as all professional partners. The book is introduced by DLD Co-Founder and CEO Steffi Czerny and rounded off by a review of 10 years of DLD (founded in 2005). The book is published by Hubert Burda Media and printed by Kastner & Callwey Medien GmbH in Forstinning near Munich.

The Red Bulletin, January 2015

The Red Bulletin defines itself as an “international men's active style magazine” with cover stories on sports, culture and lifestyle “beyond the ordinary”. It is published 12 times a year by Red Bull Media House. The headquarters of Red Bull Media House are in Wals near Salzburg, Austria and in Santa Monica, USA. The Red Bulletin has offices in Germany, Brazil, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Austria, Switzerland, South Africa and the USA which produce specific issues for every country. No indication of where the Red Bulletin was printed inside the magazine.
