Lafayette Anticipation associate curator Anna Colin talks to artist Tyler Coburn about Ergonomic Futures, a speculative project engaged with art, design, science, anthropology and writing. Take a look at DIS’ picks of this #NYFW’s most exciting upcoming shows!
ECKHAUS LATTA 9/7
Last season Eckhaus Latta took Steve Jobs as a starting point for their genius mens and womens collection, and a presentation that included sawing, arm wrestling, #bts photo shoots, and out-loud readings of Steve Jobs’ biography. We’ve heard something about a cross-continental live-stream, but otherwise this season is a total mystery, and we’re obviously excited about that.
TELFAR’s S/S 2014 collection Sunday at Made Standard will be a tech crazy, concept-driven runway show with LED curtains and 60 male models! WHAT?! Get ready for mens ballet flats, TEFLAR hardware, intricate sport-mesh outerwear, and (im)modest pool cover-ups. Dying.
HOOD BY AIR 9/8
The Spring ’14 HBA collection is titled ‘GUMP’, which only leads us to more questions. Urban Dictionary did NOT help fyi (A Weak, Spineless, Soft person / to prematurely ejaculate / fat part under your chin / etc). We’re desperate awaiting Sunday to see how HBA will top their last two action packed shows in NY and London.
LUAR ZEPOL 9/10
We heard Luar Zepol is #DFA this season. The collection’s title, “Desacatao,” is Dominican slang for “ready and willing.” Raul Lopez invites you to drop some Luar Zepol, and take a trip through time and space. Give in, join the cult, be down for anything. Stay tuned for the collection Tues, Sept 10th.
